Salesforce User License not showing up while creating the user

Salesforce User License not showing up while creating the user:

Resolution:

Go back to the Users list and look for the two Salesforce licenses already in use. We can see we already have our (2) full licenses in use.

Click the Edit link next to one of them and uncheck the Active box to deactivate the user. Click Save.

Now, we will have a Salesforce license available to complete a trailhead challenge.

Reason:

Trailhead Playground comes with two full Salesforce licenses. (including salesforce and salesforce platform *).

So have 2 salesforce licenses provided in playground and the 2 users to which this license has been added would be active users. We must inactivate one of them. Then when creating new user, we will see the salesforce license will be available.

Again, if we activate this new user. For the next user creation this license won’t be available since 2 active users would have consumed 2 salesforce licenses provided by salesforce for the playground.

We must inactive again one of the User so that we use the salesforce license again.

Additionally, always for each module/trail we create a new trailhead playground so every time we have 2 salesforce license available to use as per need.

Note: We can check what available licenses we have by visiting the Company Information page under Setup. Enter Company Information in Quick Find and select Company Information. Scroll to User Licenses to view the licenses available in the Trailhead Playground.

*Salesforce licenses are for users who require full access to standard CRM and Force.com AppExchange apps.

CRM apps are anything that requires access to Standard Objects like Leads, Opportunities, Forecasts, Cases, Solutions

Salesforce Platform licenses are for users who only need access to custom apps, and not the standard CRM functionality. Salesforce Platform users have access to the core Salesforce Standard Objects and functionality, like Accounts, Contacts, Reports, Dashboards, Documents, Custom Tabs

So, if a user only needs to access custom Force.com or AppExchange apps, it’s fine to assign the user a Salesforce Platform license. On the other hand, if a user needs access to any CRM functionality (like mentioned above e.g., Sales or Service Cloud), they must be assigned a Salesforce license.
