How to rename Report Columns without changing the Actual Field names –
 

This is applicable in Custom Report Types only.

It is not possible to rename the Report columns in Standard Report Types.

 

When creating a Custom Report Type, there’s an option to update the Display Label of any field that has been added to the CRT.

Once the display label has been updated within a CRT, whatever new report we create using that Custom Report Type, the report will show the new renamed labels.

 

Steps:

 

1.    Setup > Report Types.

2.    Open the Custom Report Type > click Edit Layout.

3.    Select the desired field > click Edit Properties.

Note: To rename multiple fields at a time, we need to press the Shift key while selecting the fields.

4.    Enter the new display label in the Display As box > click OK.

Note: We can preview the layout clicking Preview Layout.

5.    Save
